The UK’s largest hotel management company, BDL Management, celebrated some of the hospitality industry’s top talent this February with its annual awards.
Hosted at the Ramada Birmingham Sutton Coldfield, the awards ceremony recognised excellence across the board; from green credentials and revenue raising through to community outreach and outstanding service.
The Crowne Plaza London Docklands, winner of the award for Hotel of the Year, also picked up the title of Exceptional People Hotel, while the team of the Holiday Inn Express Greenock was presented with a new honour, the Louis Woodcock Award for Exceptional Service, dedicated to BDL’s late founder, who passed away in 2012.
Commenting on the awards, managing director Stewart Campbell said: “We are extremely proud to recognise the loyalty and dedication of our people, without whom the company could not have achieved the success it has to date. Congratulations to all of our winners.”
The four star Landmark Hotel in Dundee was named Quality Hotel of the Year and Kathleen Lavery-Boulouha of the Holiday Inn Express Antrim was awarded General Manager of the Year. Nominated secretly by her team, Kathleen was praised by staff, customers, suppliers and associates, all of whom highlighted her commitment and dedication.
Speaking about Kathleen’s achievement, Stewart Campbell said: “Her approach and attitude have helped the hotel succeed in difficult trading conditions, and she has gone the extra mile time and again. She also created numerous development opportunities for her team, with one member of staff being seconded to the Olympic village for 5 months, and under her management the hotel achieved the IHG Quality Excellence award for the 3rd year running.”
The team of the Ramada Sutton Coldfield came top in the Corporate Social Responsibility category while the Ramada Encore Inverness was crowned Green Hotel of the Year. John Morris, assistant restaurant manager at the Ramada Encore Belfast, was awarded Employee of The Year and Paul Berkin, kitchen assistant at the Holiday Inn Express Doncaster, took the prize for Revenue Driving Employee of the Year.
