Representatives from English Heritage were on a recent visit to Meath and Louth visiting some of the OPW sites that are now available free of charge to visitors with English Heritage membership cards. The group visited local sites including Bru na Boinne and the Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre along with spending time in Dublin area taking in the Garden of Remembrance, Leinster House, the National Botanic Gardens and Dublin Castle.
Speaking about the visit Gary Breen from Fáilte Ireland said –
“The GB market is a big focus for us this year and we are working closely with the OPW to tap into what is a lucrative group of visitors. With the latest CSO figures showing an increase of 13% in GB visitors for the first half of this year, we have to make sure we are offering these potential culturally curious visitors a good experience. By linking up with English Heritage, we hope to see a boost of GB visitors to Ireland and especially to counties Louth and Meath.”
