Fermanagh Seaplane Festival Returns

Fermanagh Seaplane Festival

Fermanagh Seaplane Festival

After a two year wait the Fermanagh Seaplane Festival returns to a new location on the shores of upper Lough Erne. One of the most unique festivals in Europe it promises to be even bigger and better than the last festival in 2009.
Supported by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, Waterways Ireland and Media Sponsor UTV the 2011 Fermanagh Seaplane Festival is a celebration of the Lakelands, the regions previous and current links to amphibious aircraft, and ultimately it is intended to be a great family day out.

Taking place over two days in September, the 24th and 25th, the Festival will not only attract Seaplanes from across Europe but there will be a great selection of  free live music, free kids entertainment, a great value continental style market (to take care of your taste buds), additionally there will be other educational and historical activities, plus much more.

But what brings the Seaplanes to Fermanagh? What many people don’t know is that seventy years ago the Catalina’s and Sunderland flying boats were based in Fermanagh at Castle Archdale and Killadeas , to support the WWII Atlantic Campaign.

The Festival itself will actually be located on the former WWII Catalina Training base and work is well underway creating one of the most unique festival sites in Europe, on the beautiful shores of Lough Erne.
Early bird family tickets to the festival cost only £13 for two adults and two children (Cheaper than a trip to the Cinema) will be available online in the next few weeks, organisers will make an announcement at the time so sign up to our news letter online for updates.

Whilst Organisers put the finishing touches to the event, they encourage you to check out their website www.fermanaghseaplanefestival.com or sign up to one of their social media outlets – Twitter: @Seaplanes2011 or on Facebook: Fermanagh Seaplane-Festival

There are still some great promotional opportunities available for local companies and are also interested in hearing from any regional Catering and Craft traders, contact info@lakeandairevents.com for more information.

Also the organisers of the Fermanagh Seaplane Festival are asking former WWII Catalina and Sunderland Aircraft pilots/crew or people with links to them to contact them via their website www.fermanaghseaplanefestival.com or if you know of any interesting stories or have interesting artefacts to share contact shauna@fermanaghseaplanefestival.com

Watch this space out for more exciting information, as the organisers will announcing the more details of the aircraft coming.
