Party With The Dutch in Trafalgar Square

Orange Friends

Orange Friends

Holland House, in association with easyJet, is taking over Trafalgar Square once more. So dust off your best orange outfits and come party with us! On Saturday 16 April 2011 from 12 midday until 8pm, the Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions offers you the opportunity to experience all things Dutch, bringing a taste of Holland to the UK. This year, don’t miss elements including your chance to win a unique van Gogh bicycle, the opportunity to see the M.A.D Mountain bike stunt demonstrations and the grand final of the easyJet and holland.com Double Dutch Challenge.

The free entry party on London’s famous square, celebrating Holland’s national day, will give revellers a chance to experience the authentic atmosphere associated with the destination through Dutch music, food & drink and a healthy dose of culture for all the family.

From 12 midday to 8pm visitors will be treated to live music from great Dutch bands including Storybox, Boris, Typhoon & New Cool Collective, De Coronas and Baskerville. The kids’ corner dedicated to fun activities such as face painting, balloon modelling, clog painting, theatre shows and arts & crafts will keep the younger children entertained. While an authentic Dutch market and free short guided tours of the National Gallery’s fabulous collection of Dutch paintings at 3.30pm and 4.30pm (meet at the Sainsbury Wing Information Desk) are among other activities to enjoy on the day.

Plus, a wide range of orange merchandise will be on sale for those who forget to dress in the ‘national’ colour. Come and chill out with easyJet in their marquee and you may be one of the lucky winners of a Double Dutch voucher giving 2 for the price of 1 on flights from the UK to Amsterdam*. For more information on the day’s program and to plan your next trip to Holland, feel free to come and talk to the crew at the Holland information desk.

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: “In less than 500 days the eyes of the world will be on London for the 2012 Games. As the city prepares for another momentous occasion in April, events like Holland House show the city’s chameleon-like ability to celebrate our links with other nations. The Dutch have always been welcome here, drawn to this most cosmopolitan of capitals. As well as historic royal connections, we are proud to have hosted famous sons like Vincent Van Gogh, just as we are to display his work in our world class galleries. Moreover, our new bikes will feel very familiar to our good friends from the Netherlands. So have a great day in Trafalgar Square.”
